Has Anyone Set Posting Limits to Improve Content Quality?

Some forums limit how many posts new users can make to reduce spam and low-effort content. If you have tried posting limits, did they help or frustrate newcomers? How do you balance between quality control and user freedom?

I have seen this, especially on paid-to-post forums, limit earning but this feature can also be useful to focus on quality over quantity. It can reduce spam and low-effort contributions.

I don't see any need to limit what members can post on a forum. It just doesn't even make sense as long as they are not spamming the forum. What am I trying to achieve by doing so? What exactly is the goal?

This is not advisable for any forum. There are times when I would have exhausted my limits and I want to make a reply to a post I fancy, how would I do that then?
