Small forums manage sales well, but problems seem to grow with size. Is it possible to scale a community marketplace without attracting spam, low-effort sellers, and constant conflicts? What systems help most?

I don't think that is possible, as your marketplace grows, it will also start attracting spams. However, if you have a dedicated staff, especially designated to marketplace, you might be able to control spam in some ways
