Do Community Marketplaces Need Escrow to Build Real Trust?

Escrow systems reduce risk but add friction. For forums built on trust and relationships, does escrow improve confidence or make transactions feel too formal?

I have been on a lot of forums but I haven't seen any forum using Escrow on the marketplace section. Since escrow will protect both buyers and sellers, using Escrow will build trust.

It depends on the kind of vibes I see the people in the community give. If I don’t have any reason to doubt anyone then there is no need for escrow.
