Do You Let Members Shape New Forum Sections or Keep That Fully Admin-Controlled?

Post by Admin »

Some admins open suggestion threads where members pitch new sections. Others say it creates false expectations. If you have tried letting the community influence structure, did it help people feel more invested or just create debates that went nowhere? I am curious to know how you balance openness with control.

I think involving members can be valuable, especially for niche interests. Asking for suggestions or votes helps the forum feel participatory. But final control should stay with admins to maintain focus, quality, and avoid creating empty or redundant sections that split engagement.
